How to read the result

The site earned more clicks from fewer impressions. Search visibility became more efficient: CTR increased from 3.6% to 4.3%, while average position improved slightly. Compared with the same period last year, average position moved from 14.1 to 7.4.

Recipe demand is seasonal, so the increase cannot be attributed to a single change. The result reflects the combined effect of the technical migration, architecture, snippets, new tools and content.

My role covered more than tool development and the technical migration. It also included SEO growth work: technical audits, URL preservation, canonicals and sitemap, structured data, indexing, search architecture, internal linking and snippet improvements.

What was implemented

Joomla 3 -> Joomla 6

The platform was migrated while preserving working URLs, content and search structure.

Technical SEO

Canonicals, sitemap, indexing, Recipe structured data and monitoring of search enhancements.

Content architecture

Categories, seasonal collections, internal links and a shorter path from query to recipe.

Useful tools

Meal planner, shopping lists, recipe analysis, calculators and a glycemic-index database.

Verified search data

The figures above come from Search Console for the Recepty.mobi project. Only aggregated performance data is published, without account access, revenue or personal information.

Tools built on top of an existing content base

A large portal can do more than publish another article. Recipe data can power useful products such as a meal plan, shopping list, nutrition analyser and searchable reference tables.

Product requirement

Connect a mature recipe catalogue with functions that answer daily user questions: what to cook, how many calories it contains and what to buy.

Developed modules

  • meal plans for 1, 3, 5, 7 or 14 days
  • automatic shopping lists for selected dishes
  • calorie and nutrition analysis
  • a glycaemic index database with more than 1,000 products
  • filters for goals, cooking time and excluded ingredients
  • links from generated results to real recipes on the platform

Turning content into an interactive product

The main challenge is keeping the data consistent while making the workflow simple. A tool should lead to a recipe, and the recipe should support another useful action.

01

Meal planner

Visitors select the number of days, goal, cooking time and meals, and the system builds a plan from existing recipes.

02

Shopping list

After generating a plan, ingredients are grouped by dish and can be marked as purchased.

03

Dish replacement

One meal can be swapped without rebuilding the rest of the plan.

04

Calculators

The platform includes recipe analysis, calorie, BMI and nutrition related tools.

05

Content data

Every result links to an actual recipe with its time, calories, servings and image.

06

Large catalogue UX

Categories, seasonal paths, search and tools shorten navigation across more than a thousand content items.

A three day plan with a ready shopping list

For this test I selected 3 days with breakfast, lunch and dinner. The system chose 9 dishes, displayed calories for each day and created a shopping list for the recipes. Every dish can be opened or replaced.

Questions about a similar implementation

Can a similar portal use WordPress or Joomla?

Yes. Platform choice depends on data volume, editorial workflow and load. Tools can be modules or separate applications.

Can AI generation be added?
